EXPERTISE

Mr. Houska advises clients on all aspects of estate planning and estate and trust administration.  He helps clients to transfer their wealth in meaningful, tax efficient ways, and has experience counseling individuals and families on the minimization of estate and gift taxes, the creation and operation of business entities and family partnerships, and charitable giving.  He also represents clients in both resdiential and commercial real estate transactions and in civil litigation matters.

BACKGROUND & EDUCATION

Mr. Houska is a native of Bloomington, Illinois. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 2012 from the University of Illinois. He attended the University of Illinois College of Law and received his Juris Doctorate in 2015, graduating Cum Laude. While at Illinois, Mr. Houska was the executive editor of the Environmental Moot Court competition and was selected to represent the University in the National Environmental Law Moot Court competition.

PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS & MEMBERSHIPS

Mr. Houska is a member of the McLean County Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.  He has been a speaker for the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago's local Money Smart Week program, and has given presentations on estate planning issues and trust and estate administration issues to numerous local businesses and community organizations.  Mr. Houska authored the chapter on Attorneys' and Representatives' Fees for the 2019 edition of the IICLE Estate Administration Fundamentals handbook.

COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES

Mr. Houska is on the board of the Humane Society of Central Illinois and a member of the Bloomington Normal Sunrise Rotary and Bloomington Normal Young Professionals.
